Toyota Avalon

Both Toyota and Hyundai have strong reputations for quality cars, bringing up thoughts of comparisons between the two brands. Dealerships like Dayton Toyota South Brunswick, NJ, and others have been fielding lots of questions as the comparison trend continues. So here are two of the popular models in sedans, side by side, with the 2014Toyota Avalon and the Hyundai Azera.

Body and Frame

Hyundai Azera

The Hyundai Azera shows off a bit of flare in the Korean carmaker's lineup that normally doesn't appear in other models. Frame-wise, the Azera qualifies as a full size vehicle, and the inside has plenty of room to get comfortable for the ride. The car seats five passengers comfortably and moves on 18-inch wheels, which can be upgraded in the premium options.

In comparison, the Toyota Avalon carries forward a lot of the same features from the 2013 model. The Avalon still has a long enough body and size to compete in the full-size sedan category, but the front end is snubbed a bit to look somewhat similar to a flatter BMW sedan. Four body packages are offered, with two of them definitely in the upgraded and premium range. 18-inch wheels are standard and the car seats four passengers very comfortably. Five might be pushing it.

Engine and Power

The Azera is packaged with a respectable V6 engine that involves a 3.3 liter power block putting out 293 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. The strength at the throttle allows the car to get to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds via a front wheel drive design and a six-speed transmission. This mix provides a driver a fuel efficiency performance of 29 mpg on the freeway and 19 mpg in the city.

The Toyota Avalon is built with a 3.5 liter engine, which is slightly bigger than the Azera's package, and it too is rated as a V6. This engine puts out 268 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque, which comes in as a lower performance, however. On the other hand, for a commuter car, the Avalon is a better choice with a fuel efficiency of 31 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city, saving gas money in the wallet.

Interior Features

Hyundai Azera interior

The Hyundai Azera does include lots of electronic features like keyless ignition, ventilated seats, and Bluetooth connections, but the actual console and inside body sculpting might feel substandard. That said, many folks still like the car because it has so much space inside for both the driver and passengers. Additionally, the Azera comes with a good size trunk for bags which is where a lot of cars give up room to make more area for the seating.

The Toyota Avalon has a somewhat better mix of interior materials which will look to be of a higher standard than the interior materials of the Azera. It comes loaded with features and a higher quality design inside. This includes an 11-speaker sound system, heated seats, and multi-range climate control. All the competitive electronic features are included and augmented with a headlight control and pre-collision safety system. Overall, Toyota put more 2014 changes into the interior than anywhere else to make the Avalon stand out.
